5K WALK FOR THE LOUKOUMI FOUNDATION

In celebration of the United Nations International Day of Happiness, The Merrick School District will be organizing a 5k walk with all proceeds raised benefiting The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation. The Old Mill Road School in Merrick started celebrating International Day of Happiness last year. There are 10 components that make up the keys to Happiness, one of which is giving to others. Join in the "Walk to Happiness" on March 19th and support the children in their quest to make a difference in the world.

On Saturday March 25 at 11am The Loukoumi Foundation will start monthly programming in its Make A Difference with Loukoumi exhibit space at the Westchester Children's Museum.

Over 50,000 children across the country participated in Make A Difference with Loukoumi on October 22nd, National Make A Difference Day! Click here to see! Loukoumi embarked on a school bus filled with kids & supporters that day, uniting many of the participating organizations by visiting their good deed events in the New York area. Stops along the way will include The Westchester Children's Museum, Building Hope - the Yonkers Animal Shelter,
Fordham University and Holy Trinity New Rochelle.

Loukoumi, a fluffy little lamb,is the main character from the Loukoumi book series that wants to make the world a better place. The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to teach children to follow Loukoumi’s lead and to make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of others.

The Foundation educates children about career choices, helps them give back to their communities, and teaches them about Bullying awareness and prevention in conjunction with Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center. The Foundation also teaches children to be philanthropic by engaging them in programs and events where they do good deeds and raise funds for charities.
